QS, I made up this very simple statement all on my own -- it was not very difficult. So what if 4 others think like I do...

Consumer choice is not based on review articles. The Android sold more units it's first 3 months than the original iPhone did. Half the people standing in line at Apple stores are already Apple fanboys (or girls ha). Competition has become fierce now.

Keeping in mind most of those went to people who already have an older version of the same phone (like myself and most here).

If it were 1.7M new iPhone sales as the Apple marketing machine wants you to beleive that would be impressive.

YAWN…

Repeat business is a GOOD thing! It means their customers are satisfied and want to continue their experience with the company.

1.7m phones in 3 days is a feat no matter where the customers are coming from.

That just sounds ridiculous. You mean Apple would rather not have new customers, but rather just recycle new models to old customers? With no growth in the subscriber base?

New customers are infinitely more valuable than old ones. It appears to be easy to get the old customers to buy a new phone, what they need to grow is conversions.

Marketing 101.

Well they certainly aren't losing customers - and some of those old phones are going to new customers as well so the growth is happening.

Conversions, new customers and old ones, the iPhone is kicking ass in the marketplace whether people want it to or not.

I apologize, I thought you said that growth was irrelevant. The quote was "sales are sales, it doesn't matter who buys it, and that it is even better for Apple if these early sales are to previous customers" I must have read it wrong. I assumed that people who traded in their old phones didn't keep using the phones they traded in.
