Huh? How is it "embrassing" for the new iPhone 4 owners?????

I don't feel embarrassed one bit. Yes, I am annoyed but I am a realist too. If you buy a newly released product, you can expect bugs. Actually, I guess you can expect problems with most products that one buys.

The iPhone 4 is still the best available smart-phone out there....

That is a biased and subjective opinion. We all drive BMWs-- are you saying they are the best available car out there ? It's all about consumer personal preference.

I wouldn't really call 4th generation a new product, they just should have caught this glitch in product testing before releasing it... But that would involve retooling the phone which would cost a bit and delay the release, so they likely knew about it already anyways. And if that is the case it isn't really "Apple-like" in operation as they used to care more about quality in the past.

Meanwhile I'm typing this on my 20" iMac after listening to my iPod all day in the airport/airplane and using my android phone on sprint all day.

Actually not his opinion alone!!!

BGM's quote "The iPhone 4 is still the best available smart-phone out there"
is found in at least 4 different review articles. Google the statement for confirmation.
I do agree though "It's all about consumer personal preference"

Weasel-- you had to do a shameless plug for Apple, Android and Sprint.

Not a big deal - most people use cases anyway.

I share the opinion that it is the best smart phone despite it's only quirk.

Car and Driver says the Honda Accord is probably the best 4 door sedan for the money or has been for years. But that doesn't mean people will buy one. I agree 3 years ago when the iPhone came out nobody could touch it---now there are like 13 Droid phones or something and the market has tightened.

Just showing that I buy what makes sense for my individual needs.

I really shopped around when I wanted a new phone as my contract was over with sprint for some time and I could have gone with anyone, but found the features I wanted most in a phone on the samsung moment and the better reliability, prices and coverage (in my area) with the sprint network.

On the same note if you look in the top drawer of my toolbox you will find tools from snap-on, matco, mac, cornwell, craftsman and even some harbor freight. I don't just automatically buy into Snap-on in the best of the best like many techs do, I look at which tool will perform better for my needs.

So in my belief you can not call the iphone 4g the best smart phone. You may call it the best for your needs, but it is not the best for my needs by far. If the reception drops to half when you hold it, the screen gets yellow stains for no reason, no physical keyboard and the service carrier is spotty in my area and it adds up to a no go.
