fix it? please. Jobs will just mind meld with all of the owners and convince them it's a feature.

Whether the media is blowing this out of proportion or not is not the important issue.

Fact remains:
1) There is an antenna design problem which Consumer Reports, Engadget, etc. have proven. For once, you cannot blame AT&T for this. However, this is not a safety issue.

2) Apple has not acknowledged the problem directly. Yes, they state there is a software fix for making the signal strength display more accurate, but this does not address the true nature of the problem.

3) This is becoming a PR problem for Apple and they need to address it. If an iPhone 4 owner complains about dropped call from "death grip", I would recommend Apple to just give him/her a free Apple bumper case. End of story. Not everyone has experience the same problem. It appears to variable dependent on different factors, but the fact is, it does exist.

Yes, the iPhone 4 is broken / No, the iPhone 4 is not broken -- Engadget

4) About 2 million people have bought the new iPhone 4 and love it. It has lots of great features. But, the phone is not perfect because of the antenna design problem. Never had to hold any cellphone a certain way to prevent dropped calls.

5) And when you release the iPhone for Verizon, fix the antenna problem.

You mean Apple has not started on a CDMA version or are they thinking about making a LTE/CDMA hybrid version once LTE becomes more prominent on Verizon. I believe Verizon already has a leg up on LTE. AT&T is just barely catching up with Verizon with 3G coverage.

Now, Apple already has hired new cellphone antenna engineers right after iPhone 4 was released.

I just hope iPhone 4 will not become Apple's "Windows Vista"...

If the majority of iPhone users having problems had enough sense to do just that there would be no story.

LOL actually it is the important issue.

The real story is the complaining people
who don't have enough sense to return the phone if
they believe it's defective. If they did that Apple
would address the perceived problem. .....

As one reader put it;

CR is great for appliances, and they're good at tracking overall customer service complaints (I think in fact they're better than CNET and other tech press on that last item). But their staff expertise is heavily weighted toward vehicles and other durable goods. I would never buy a computer based on the feature comparisons at consumer reports - but I would pay attention to the customer service ratings they give computer companies. You just have to know how to use these journals.

Apple has an ally; Electromagnetic engineer says Consumer Reports iPhone 4 study flawed | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews
I am pretty sure Consumer Reports is capable of testing/rating cell phones.

Who would have to say it in order for you to listen? Many sites like Cnet, Consumer Reports, etc, seem to think there are reception problems with the new iPhone.

Also, if you feel that Consumer Reports IS capable of tracking overall service complaints as your reader comment suggests, you may want to look at their overall cell phone service ratings that has AT&T on the bottom of the list.
