I love it! I'm a huge fan of Lexus/Toyota SUVs. In fact, the only SUV I would prefer to the X5 would be the LX470 or the GX. I love the versatility and off road ability they offer - one of the few that is truly capable on a trail!

Well thank you! The LX470 was more than I wanted to bite off right now...

Know what you mean about the off road ability...however I think mine will be free of the dirt, mud, and trails for awhile!

Wife had an X5, wanted a Lexus EX350. She got it, now she wants her X5 back (and I am not giving her my X5). What's the saying, "you sit in a Lexus, you sit on a BMW"

Congrats on your Lexus it looks nice, but I prefer the X5 platform; much more entertaining.

Not a fan of Japanese cars of any sort... but good luck with it!

So can you compare the ride & handling of the X5 & the GX?

The X5 has much more of a sports car feel...tighter turns...all round more fun to drive, can zip in in out of traffic if needed.
The GX reminds me of a big Caddy...nice, loads of room, loads of power great ride...but I find my self not jumping in and out of traffic as it is a much bigger SUV.

To me it boils down to the GX is a truck based SUV - bigger, heavier, much more room, etc. and the X5 is more of as BMW says a SAV...stiffer suspension (my X5 has the sports pkg, the GX has the adjustable sports suspension too) as I said before X5 is a little more fun to drive, the X5 is a great SAV...
The RX330 that we had was more of a SUV on a car platform which it was...great ride just not much of a SUV feel more of a mini van feel...kind of.
The one thing in the Lexus I can say I get much more of a WOW factor when people see it vs. the BMW. Now sure I have had people give the...BMW looks...but the Lexus gets more attention than the X5 for sure...and feels at least to me like more of a Luxury SUV then the BMW X5. I have driven the new X5's too just not the same feel as the Luxury that Lexus offers, however the X5 is much more of a drivers car as stated loads of times...trying not to get flamed here just offering my honest opinion.

By the way here is the most fun thing I have in my garage to drive anyway!

I think that is because the Lexus is more ostentatious. It has to have that large, look at my expensive car look or it wouldn't sell. I bet the people who say "wow" are the same people who are impressed with Escalades, Infiniti QX's, etc.

Sorry man. It is just my observation that most Lexus owners don't really know, or even care to know, anything about cars. They just want something big and luxurious. Lexus truck based SUV's are very much on the same page as the Escalade and QX. Insert that big, in your face, old school American taste for a luxury status symbol here. This is exactly why you are getting more of a "wow" factor with the Lexus. Vehicles like this are a constant reminder of American SUV tastes from a decade ago, imo.
