I have traveled enough to realize how absurd the process was before the scanners and pat downs were put in place, and am absolutely not looking forward to the next time I have to travel.

It scares me that people are ok with it all. What is it about air travel that makes people so willing to give up their rights? Getting groped in public for no reason other than needing to fly somewhere? That is the sort of thing you expect when you visit a dictator's throne room! Not to mention the scanners and the harm they may be doing.

The Israeli system seems to be far superior. Even if it is a long wait, it would be worth it to maintain our dignity both personally and as a society.

Apparently the Israeli system isn't as long as some would have you believe.
In an interview today it was said the whole thing takes about 30 minutes
from the time you get to the airport to the gate.

And... theres no racial profiling because everyone goes thru the process
no exceptions.

Once again, please tell me how this is going to change anything for you as far as the screening process goes? They still have to follow TSA screening rules even though they are private workers. All they are going to do is be more friendly when they are scanning you and maybe the lines will move faster.

Also, thought is was interesting that a poster in that article pointed out that it was private security companies that allowed the 9/11 hijackers on the plane. Apparently, three of them set off metal detectors in Dallas. They were pulled aside, screened and let on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon. Huh, I wonder if a body scan would have uncovered the weapons?

Still repeating yourself...and now you're asking me to repeat myself? Hijackers in Dallas? I assume you mean Dulles...if you're gonna go down that route, then guess whose brother was on the board of the electronic security for Dulles, WTC and United Airlines on very day of 9/11?

I've come to understand that debating anything with you is reminiscent of the below:

Let's just hope significant and proven changes are implemented by the next time you do decide to fly.

Scary times for the good ol' US of A indeed...if some are ok with it, i can't help but wonder what else they'll be okay with...as the gut feels there will be continued attempts to disregard US constitution.

Chilli, I am not even going to watch the above video you posted. I understand you prefer the Israeli mehtods of screening, but I am asking you very specifically how you feel anything is going to change for you personally with private companies doing the screening if they still have to follow TSA guidelines and screening methods? Put your fingers on your keyboard and use your words like a big boy, OK?

Their very own experts claim they can still smuggle enough explosives to do damage EVEN WITH the current TSA theatre. And i'm quite sure their methods are more cost effective than the nudie/grope. Whichever proven methods pass more red-team tests, without humiliating or endangering the passenger/customer, should be implemented, imo.

Interesting segment on Democracy Now, today...NYC Councilman David Greenfield introduced a resolution to ban scanners in airports within the city:

National Outcry Over TSA Body Scanners and Invasive Pat-Downs

Possible trip to Disney World (by way of Sanford International) may be in order for the little ones...just maybe.
