Very nice PNG! I think I've come to a decision on what I'm getting next... I know I wanted a .308 in 7.62x51 and decided I wanted an auto rather than bolt action, and with plenty of room to customize as needed. I think I'm going to end up getting an FNAR heavy 20" barrel. I figure it will be a great range gun with match ammo and awesome hunting rifle with good hunting rounds.

Anyone here have any experience with this beauty?

That looks like a great rifle! I'm not familiar with that particular rifle but FNH usually makes excellent stuff. A couple of guys I've talked to along the way have expressed subjective opinions about how FN rifles "feel" for them. It's just a matter of what you like. Of course buying the rifle is one thing but the glass on top is another. Dang that stuff gets pricey! I went with a Leupold Mark 4 because they are excellent, proven, and Leupold's lifetime warranty is famous for being best in the industry. I would recommend checking out some firearms forums for good deals. I bought my Leupold brand new in box with all papers, etc, for several hundred less than retail.

The only thing about a 7.62x51 is the cost of ammo, especially the match grade stuff you mentioned. There is no doubt about the potency of that caliber. I had a M1A but let it go to build my SPR. The 7.62x51 is just amazing.

Nice optical illusion there... took me a minute or so to realize there was an actual rifle in that last one!

And yeah, I'd start by getting the rifle... putting a cheaper basic hunting scope on it "for now" till I could get a really good scope. And the Leopold is on the list of serious contenders. Add a bi-pod etc. and it will be awesome. And I'd pretty much be using the match ammo to sight in the good scope, normal ammo before and after.
