I am sure the AT&T spinmeisters are working on ways to pretend that it will help the consumer, and that it should be approved by the Feds.

Yeah Ma Bell was wireline--but you can draw dotted lines to the RBOCs aka Local Exchange Carriers (Ma Bells) like GTE that became Verizon that then had a wireless product (VZ Wireless). Same with the Bells that became AT&T (AT&T Wireless then Cingular now just AT&T).

I read this last night. As a T-Mobile customer who has always been extremely pleased with their customer service and reception but felt their phones left a lot to be desired it's a mixed bag. I'll miss them but I guess I can get an I-Phone now!

So will Sprint be taken over by Verizon...both use CDMA technology for now and Sprint has several cities with WiMax which can be converted to support LTE very easily...If Verizon wants to add even more customers and broaden their wireless spectrum, they can buy out Sprint...

AT&T Inc. said Monday that if its deal to buy T-Mobile USA goes through, T-Mobile subscribers with "3G" phones will need to replace those to keep their wireless broadband service working...

Weasel will become famous soon enough
I'd bet they'd lose quite a few of the T-mobile customers at that point... and if they try charging an early contract end fee they'd likely get a class action suit in response from said T-Mobile customers.
