Up over the Bluewater bridge connecting Port Huron to Sarnia, Ontario, (love those 60 mph speed limits back in Canada for the 4th time ![]() ![]() Down past Niagara Falls, (we've been there a few times), and it was a hazy no pic kind of day, on a packed Sunday, so we rolled back into the US again, crossing in Buffalo. Long wait, but easy entry, and Welcome back to the US! |

So, our Last Long Gypsy Tour Road Trip concludes...
What was the best part? Seeing new sights every day, and driving some of the most fun roads in the western states and NW Canada. And, being with Veronica, elbow to elbow for 2 months! ![]() What was the least fun? The unpacking/repacking nearly every day, and 'moving' from motel to motel. No matter how good a packer you think you are, and how many soft or individual bags you pack, you still need something that is tucked 'somewhere else'. The giant RVs, campers and trailers, chugging around America at 10-50 mph, on the 2 lanes, were a PIA, too. There are a few spots/sights we missed, due to schedule, logistics, miles to cover, etc. Maybe on the 'next' trip... For most of you, I realize a week, or even a 2 week vacay is about all the time you can devout to any endeavor; for us, it was 2 months, with not really a care, and we could have used another couple weeks, especially in some of the western states. But, my recommendation is to get in a fun car, get out of town, and go see some of the simply incredible parks, sights, vistas and remarkable 2 lane roads this country, (and Canada) has, if and when you get the opportunity. It is good to be home now, these past 3 weeks, but it still is a bit odd in thinking back to where we were, the fun daily driving, the anticipation of what's around the corner, and seeing beautiful/interesting things, vs just being 'home', and the usual routine. Not sure I could 'do it', or enjoy it as much alone, and Veronica was a yeoman, (yeowoman?!), in cranking the Vette, carving corners, grabbing gears, and hauling our azzes for more than half the trip, often on some fabulous roads, which allowed me to shoot a bunch of good Car Pics. I appreciate your patience and continued perusal of this lengthy thread; I thought it would be cake to toss up a bunch of pics, but it was more time consuming than I expected, and my slow Mtn House Internet upload speed/glitches did not help. But, thank you for reading, for the 'looks', and for the kind comments. This remarkable trip was simply an adventure that I had to share with the Gang, here on the XOutpost Board. Best Regards, David & Veronica theOl'RoadGeezers Pics from NY, seeing one of Veronica's brothers at Lake Sacandaga, where I did the first hand wash for the Vette in 50+ days. A pic of my Fave bro-n-law's collection, including my old '90 Heritage Softtail, in the corner. A couple shots of Watkins Glen Gorge and falls,a few fam pics, (like any slide show), of our son and his fam, esp. our granddaughter...and, after having my last glass of wine on the trip, a stag beetle dropped into my glass. ![]() ![]() And, a last pic tribute to our 2002 VetteVert that hauled us around 33 states and 4 Provinces of Canada, in such good stead. It may be the best car I have ever owned, in 48 years worth of cars. Thanks for looking! Last edited by motordavid; 08-17-2011 at 09:09 PM. |

Congratulations David and Veronica on having a truly unique adventure and sharing it with those of us who probably will never undertake a similar one ourselves. Well, maybe someday...

For the curious, or computer chair attached, shut-ins and, those that like Flickr Sets, here are couple I have assembled on Flickr; mostly the best of the bunch, though it really is a work in progress, and hard editing is always the most difficult task. But, in my self-defense, Flickr et al, are for a varied audience and assorted 'uses', on the net ![]() Road Trip Scenes & Artsfartsy Pics: Road Trip... - a set on Flickr RoadPics, From the car, of the car, of the Roads: Road Trip Road Pics & Car Shots... - a set on Flickr
