Autobahn BMW Ft Worth wrecks E60 M5- hit with $160,000 jury award

Not sure this was ever posted here, the whole story is in now... more or less.

The OP saved his money and bought his dream car, a 2007 E60 M5.

A dealer, Autobahn BMW Dallas/Ft Worth TX wrecked it...in August 2010.

Yesterday, 15 months later they were held accountable for their actions.

AUTOBAHN BMW Fort Worth ragged my car and wrecked/totaled it on a test drive! [now including jury result] - Page 37 - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

From post 1800 on are the results... this dealer was really a slimeball.

Yeah I remember this from last year. I really haven't heard too many things positive nor negative about Autobahn-- being that I live in Dallas and it's in Fort Worth. At least the outcome was a good one.

Interestingly, the story is that you cannot find anyplace to post independent reviews or comments about Autobahn...they get taken down quickly. Also reports of IPs traced to AB being used to generate glowing reports/comments.

Local news initially touched on the story, but then the reality of the 'Autobahn family of car dealerships' withholding advertising (TV, radio, newspaper) came home to roost and that stopped.

This really is a story of poor management at the outset, and an owner who decided "F this, I will not be bullied". In actual fact, he wasn't being bullied- but rather he was being lied to by his staff, who were wrong- who had mismanaged this- and who, to save their jobs, were lying to the owner and painting Tommy as the bad guy. They had the chance to do the right thing, did the wrong thing at each opportunity and then blamed the victim when he didn't acquiesce.

It cost AB $160k, another $100k for their lawyer, lost productivity, another $50k+ in trying to manage the internet...really crazy.

And they now have public records showing their own people admit they were at fault.

But I hardly followed it....

A guy brought in his E60 M5 to the dealer. A young tech took it out and hot rodded it around and crashed it, causing mucho damage. The dealer denied liability by offering their own version of how it happened with some blame towards the owner. They then offered to fix it but not to the extent needed and wanted him to pay $2500. He sued and won an award of about $160,000 dollar.

Check the first post in the original thread here. --> http://www.xoutpost.com/off-topic/lo...wrecks-m5.html

This has received good exposure on BMW forums and BMW news sites. I am sure it has done some damage to the dealer's rep.
