There seems to be an RF and IR logo on the chassis of this thing, hmmm...I'll  and post the finding here.

EDIT: I don't see nothing in the manual to indicate specifically that it can handle RF & IR, but numerous mentions of IR radiation and radio frequency usage and emission. It does expressly say that non A/V devices to be controlled must be infrared.
