I was muscially ignorant before I started travelling....Now music controls basically controls my life...Listen to everything - but my favorites, in no particular order...Oasis, Gene, Nas, The Killers, Royksopp, etc....too many to name I guess...

Add me to that list. It's a tragedy he's gone.

The tip of the iceberg for me. Only 2635 songs but I only have what I can listen to over and over and over and not get sick of. Music really is the language of the universe.

#1 The Original Temptations
#2 Ella Fitzgerald
#2 Phyllis Hyman
#3 Jeffrey Osborne
#4 The Funk Brothers
#4 Earth Wind and Fire
#4 Duke Ellington
#4 Jazz Crusaders
#4 Pat Metheny-Lyle Mays
#5 The Original Temptations

Gone but not forgotten Jackie Wilson. Pound for pound one of the greatest entertainers who ever performed. Drank himself to death. This is who Michael Jackson got his moves from.

One of the most influential bands? Sly and the Family Stone.

Best guitar player? Hands down the father of rock, Jamie Hendrix.

Doo Wop Oldies pre-1960
Clovers
Flamingoes
Spaniels
Heartbeats
The moonglows

To be continued................

Marvin Gaye and the Eagles are my fave "defunct" performers, Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers are in heavy rotation, him being the local boy made good and all. Greatest singers of all time for me are Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin, my fave all around is the Robert Cray Band.

I just drove solo for 16 hours out of the past 30, and the car involved didn't have the IceLink. I only had 20 minutes to get ready to leave, so I threw some Johnny Cash CDs in for the trip (no radio for 80% of the trip). From the original Sun recordings, through the rereleased Folsom and San Quentin albums, to the American recording made just before he passed away. Incredible performer.

Favourites on the IPod:

Female: Alison Krauss, Sarah McLachlan, Susan Jacks, Eva Cassidy.
Male: Willie Nelson, Harry Connick Jr.
Group: Spirit of the West, Barenaked Ladies
Band: Spitfire Band

Not much of a country fan but I do have my favorites. Johnny Cash being one of them. The Gatlin Bros, and a few others I cannot name. Jerry Lee Lewis was great to watch though not a country artist.

Us 40+ folks already have. Don't worry about it. Just get in there and speak your mind.
