Sirius/XM Pricing...

Not BMW, but analogous: my CEO's 2010 Hyundai Tuck has sat radio/Sirius.
When I re-newed it last Sept., I found anecdotes on the web, called Sirius, did the normal cable/sat "it costs too much" blah blah blah negotiation, and got it renewed for ~$90 + royalty fee.

Fast forward to now, a year later, and my 3 calls to Sirius have resulted in zero fookin movement on their part, for a better than list price renewal of ~$150.

V's sub has now expired, (a couple days ago), and another call to them, in as dulcet tones as I can get, resulted in another refusal to move off that BuckFifty ish price, even from the 'retention mgr'.

It ain't the ~$150, it's the fookin principle: theCEO listens to the soft jazz elevator channel and occasionally the pseudo NPR channel. I listen to the 3 classical channels about 10 hrs a year, max. Just seems like a rip for a few hours of a few channels. But, theBoss is applying subtle pressure to renew...

Any good luck, recent anecdotal stories on getting Sirius renewed for less than a Buck Fifty?
Thanks, Ol'UncleMotor

No Sirus stuff round these parts. I use this. Pandora Internet Radio - Listen to Free Music You'll Love
Just plug in my smart phone, choose my style of music and Wala.
Best part it's free.

I suggest looking into HD radio car tuner kit. Not sure what stations
are available in your area, but I get excellent reception, good
variety and its free. The range is limited though.

i needed to renew my domain hosting with the network solutions... as i called in for an annual renewal, they were going to renew me for the list price of 9.99 a month, with the standard 1-, 3-, and 5 year discounts, which were more than what i paid for last 10-15 years... about a half a dozen calls - same deal, they would just offer those standard discounts... i started to check out other people, and see that this thing can be had for about a 6 a month... one more call in a last effort to give them a chance, and the dude who picked up the phone gives me such a sweet deal, that i sign up for like 5 yers that i was not going to do... i get his email, deal with him in writing, and hope that he stays at the company when it is time to renew...

my point - try again, have your wife call... give them the story on your other car, that might work... i used to work for ATTWS and there some key words that customer must say for the rep to start offering things... cancel the account was one of them, mentioning competition was another, being loyal customer gave you some offers too...

try again... worst case scenario, you can always get the 8-trac.... er... i mean, the casset... er... the whatever is the latest fad now... lol...

No Pandora or HD really wanted; I may fiddle with Pandora, but HD isn't gonna work in our valleys and mtns very well, and not buying an add on receiver for her grocery getter...V likes the one elevator muzak jazz channel on Sirius, which is certainly not a unique set of play lists. As for classical, I have a few hundred fave CDs that I can play. Don't need plan B, C or D on new hardware, plug ins, etc. Won't renew if I can't get something better than List Price; this isn't cable or internet or sat TV that one has a difficult time 'living without'.

Will try the 'lean on them/plead' call again...after that, I will let it sit for awhile and maybe our acct will become a 'new customer discount available' situ.

They even have the ballz to charge a '$2 dollar invoice fee' if one writes a check and mails the subscription in. Never heard of that in 65 yrs on the planet...

They paid Stern and the like way too much dough, and Mel couldn't run CBS, or Sirius...don't understand the increasing high cost increases.

Ever try to cancel a subscription? OMG! Twice I had to cancel because my lease was up and the new ride had the 1 year free deal. I had to talk to 3 different people. I actual told them "What part of I don't have the car anymore don't you understand?" I don't care what you give me I don't need it.

I think you should renew and then try to cancel, they'll give it to you for free.

Just let the current subscription expire they will call you with reduce price offers

Just make sure that they don't have your credit card information and they auto renew.

I've heard all of the horror stories, and I've experienced a few myself, but i just called them to cancel XM in the Vette and Sirius in the Audi and it couldn't have been easier, they even sent me refund checks for the unused portion.

I have a portable XM with a car kit that I'm going to use in the new X5 on road trips.
