Hypothetical extended warranty question

Ok - lets say I had a 2006 X5 and purchased an extended warranty that covered me until 100,000 miles. I now have 95,000 miles and inquire about another extended warranty to kick in after the original 100,000 miles. I am given a quote. Shouldn't the new warranty kick in at 100,001 miles and not mileage at the time of purchase?

My dad has a Touareg with 95,000 miles. He inquired about another extended warranty but was told the quote he was given was only good from now and it could not kick in when the original warranty was up. I'm calling BS and the salesguy is looking to take advantage of a 75 year old man.

I told him this and he wants confirmation before he goes back to VW and says if this was a BMW....

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
