We thought we were on the door step of economic failure before? Not everybody thinks that.

As I said none of us know what's going to happen and pretending that we do is a waste of time.
What are you talking about? I'm going to assume it is just real early over in Cali right now Sorry if I'm not ecstatic about someone who wants me to pay 40% of my income in taxes. maybe I'm crazy

Well look at the bright side, if they F it all up, they cannot blame the Republicans. Oh wait, yes they can, they will say it was bc of Bush's policy, even though we have had a Dem-controlled house and Senate the last few years.

I did not vote for Obama, but I am willing to let him have a shot at it. I think it is a great thing that a black man has been voted into the office, just not sure about it being him.

It depends. In Florida, Lawton Chiles (Dem) held the legislature (overwhlemingly republican - democrats are irrelevant) in check pretty well, which forced governance from the center.

Then, Jeb Bush came in. Between Jeb and the legislature, they proceeded to dismantle government in our state. With no check, they were drunk on power.

The reason I say depends is that Charlie Crist is now governor. He is a registered republican, but he is a liberal at heart, and the state is in gridlock again. Sometimes, gridlock is good, because the worst thing for government is for the pendulum to swing wildly from one side to the other.

The positive outcome is that now the Repubs have a shot at putting a decent candidate up in only 4 years instead of having to wait 8 years.

Repubs had to wait 8 years to flush out Bush before getting a new candidate and it was McCain of all people that some how was thrust upon us.

I believe the Repub party will wake up, shake up, and come out better for it over the next 4 years. It will be a difficult road to climb when the media is in the tank for the Messiah and will of course assist the Dems in blaming all failures over the next 4 years on Bush.

The problem is, I don't see anyone on the horizon in the Republican camp to step up. Palin needs to go back to the land of perpetual darkness.

Sounds like you care only about your own income tax and not about the good of the country?

A smart rich guy you surely would be willing to pay a little more tax if the country and its people do better?

The fallacy of this is: I ALREADY PAY MORE.

Even at a flat tax rate, people who make more pay more. How come people can't understand that basic math?

For example - if the cap on social security taxes is lifted, I will have to lay off a staff person. It will cost my company more than $50k, which is about equivalent to the salary of some of our younger staff. Income is the same, and I have to make payroll. If the government throws another $50k on me, something has to give.

And, before you say cut your salary - I've invested 10 years and over a million dollars in my own business. I risked everything I was worth, my kid's college educations, everything, to make this work. I deserve some return on that investment.

You may be right, we'll probably get the same bunch as before: Rudy, Fred, Huckster, Romney, and few others. However, it could be somebody totally new (hopefully not Palin or the Plumber) that surprises us all. Who even heard of Obama 4 years ago?
