1300 page Cap and Trade bill given to Congress YESTERDAY

For vote today. Add on to that the fact that an amendment was placed on the bill at around 3am Friday.

OK, lets put aside the fact that it is beyond rediculous that there should be a vote 24 hours after a 1300+ pg doc is submitted (THERE IS NO WAY YOU READ WHAT YOU'RE VOTING ON). And let's pretend you didn't toss in a 300 plus page addition to it. So, shouldn't we be concerned as citizens when are very leaders in Washington do not want people to take the time to read it on the floor?????

Rep. Boehner Reads From 300-Page Amendment to Climate Bill, Delaying Vote - Political News - FOXNews.com

Quote:
After delivering a few preliminary remarks, Boehner donned a pair of reading glasses and began leafing through a gigantic, white binder. At that point, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., asked the chair if Boehner was allowed to spend so much time reading the legislation aloud.

"I know we have this magic minute that gives leaders a lot of extra time to speak. But I'm just wondering if there is some limit under the rules on the time that a leader may take, even though the time yielded was not 20 or 30 minutes?" Waxman asked.

Waxman also wondered if any "historical records would be broken" by Boehner reading part of the bill and queried whether the tactic was "an attempt to try to get some people to leave on a close vote?"

So how fast before states start having to subsidize the poor for their utility costs now because of the near 800/yr raise to utility bills? I know in MD, BGE constantly gets in state battles because MD wants the rates to be the same that they were a decade ago, yet the populous complains every day they go 5 minutes without power. Kinda like Cali not wanting to increase taxes or limit capabilities and wondering why they owe 21B in debt.

Sad truth is we keep electing these crooks year after year. They have become so comfortable with their hold on power that they flagrantly throw in our face their dereliction of duty. We as a society don't even expect them to read bills and laws before being voted upon. We should stand up and demand change. How about we start by limiting the number of pages for each bill to 100 pages and require each Representative demonstrate that they know some basic information about the bill before they can vote.

...

And, having banged the table here, many times, about what "bills" have
become. Hellsbells, a bill could/should be a paragraph or two as a
synopsis, and unless it is a bill changing the world, it should probably
be about 10 pages or less, if they kept the bill to the fookin topic.

These bums, in both houses, run home every weekend to pump up more
dough for the next run, and individually, they all avoid any real criticism,
imo. Which is too bad. I would not hire any of them to pull weeds with me.

Enjoy "today", in the US, because every day it gets a little less "great", imo.
BR,mD

PS: the gang of elected morons could not put out a 10 page bill on Daylight
Savings Time, let alone a "climate bill". Waiting for the Health Care "Reform"
bill from the House; that should be 2000+ pages and a registered
fookin nightmare, that solves/fixes/helps no one and nothing.
