That is the sweet part about the 50% unemployment. Those that chose to work will be there because that is what makes them happy.

I saw the movie WALL-E a few months ago. If you have not seen it, this is a spoiler:
The humans have destroyed the planet and moved elsewhere. There is a cruise ship full of humans who do nothing but float around in lounge chairs drinking, eating and watching TV. Completely dependent on machines.

I agree that should not become a future for any of us, but with technology comes laziness. Compare ourselves to people just 100+ years ago. Can you imagine farming without machines, or even cutting down a tree without a chainsaw? It took real strength to survive. Now, not so much.

It truly is. Experience a smog alert in Los Angeles and tell me it has no effect on the climate of that city. Then add Chinese cities into the mix. India and Russia too.

I'll be worm food in 2055, but one thing I can guarantee is that we will have more "government", not less, then...
and, I suspect times won't be quite as fun or pretty, as they are at this moment.

I hope nobody...but looking at all the whiners out there, complaining about how much they have to give up and economy problems and w/e.

Everyone is talking and wants to change the way 'us' humans live, yet nobody is willing to sacrifice anything...

on another note...I think developing nations have a lot more to lose from potential regulations than developed ones

Ok, more than half the country was covered in snow this month; Florida Keys had slush!!! All these whack jobs can say is that cooling is part of warming ??!?!!!?
I guess that is why the new term is 'climate change', that is that????? breaking news, the climate changes??? No way. I can't believe we can be so arrogant to believe that the temperature right NOW is the best climate for the earth.... for the rest of time....

Put the entire history of the work on a time line the size of a football field, humans take up less than one inch of that field. Recorded temperature is millimeters on that field, even less if you use 'accurate' temperature measure. In short, no matter what we do, the world was here before us... and will be here long after she gets rid of us :-)

Humans have no effect on the planets climate, is more accurate.

I'll do a Google and a Bing and see what I can come up with.

Professor Ian Plimer:

"We cannot stop carbon emissions because most of them come from volcanoes," he said. "It is a normal element cycled around in the earth and my science, which is looking back in time, is saying we have had a planet that has been a green, warm wet planet 80 per cent of the time. We have had huge climate change in the past and to think the very slight variations we measure today are the result of our life - we really have to put ice blocks in our drinks."

Then there's this opposing info:

the Bush administration has now acknowledged the obvious:
Burning fossil fuels in power plants and automobiles is most likely responsible for global warming, according to a Bush administration report that confirms climate risks already accepted by most of the world's scientists. Carbon dioxide, the byproduct of burning coal and oil, has contributed most to warming in the last century, the U.S. Climate Change Science Program and the White House National Science and Technology Council reported today. The assessment from President George W. Bush's top science advisers is the strongest endorsement yet of a global scientific consensus on the causes of climate change, said Jay Gulledge, senior scientist at the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, a nonprofit research group.
