Fwiw, our BCBS of NC, for Major Medical only, with a $5G deductible before
any kind of coverage kicks in, is now up to $700 per month, for me & V.
That's $8400+ per year for high bar coverage, off the bottom of the cash
flow statement...aprox 12% of our annual life style expenses. That's before
we step into any Doc's office or E room situ, which we both avoid.

I have 3 years until Medicare; V has a long time until hers.

I have no answers or even suggestions for this current imbroglio, other
than I would like Fed Employee Style coverage, (and cost), and for a
"Guide/template" on to how to run a health system the genius legislators ought
to simply copy the Cleveland Clinic methods.

I suspect few, if any of us pesky citizens are going to be thrilled with
whatever code filled fiasco the elected idiots finally devise.
Good Luck; we will all need it.

It is likely because I do not have an opinion on the public option one way or the other. My only concern is with the affordability of health coverage, which includes the uninsured. If a public option would reduce the cost of health insurance, fine. If there is another method that could do the same, I am all for it.

In any event, It seems that the public option is going away. FOXNews.com - Democrats Reach Deal to Drop Government-Run Insurance Plan

So you really want the same people at the DMV and courts to tell you what kind and when to receive health care...
Since we are on a car blog, lets use an analogy:
It is now 'mandatory' for every body shop to fix your car, with or without insurance. What do you think will happen to the cost of car repairs?! you guessed it... astronomical increases for those who have insurance. Pretty cut and dry.

Here is one major way to lower heath costs. Hospitals CAN turn away patients with no insurance! Hear me out, Americans are among the most generous people on the planet. We will set up charity clinics and hospitals for those who REALLY need it. No longer are people with insurance paying for those without. Hospitals do have to make profits to stay in business. The cost of health insurance plummets! Now it is affordable... The first time someone decides to buy a large LCD tv instead of insurance, breaks his are, and is turned away at the hospital; what do you think he will buy next time? Big screen or health insurance!!!!!!
fixed...

It has come to this exactly because of the insurance companies.

So now the question is who do we want to get f***** by?? So far the insurance companies have ripped people left and right. No wonder some people are looking up to the government to do something about it.

I have a solution for that too: Take out the government strong hand over the insurance companies, allow across state purchasing... its called competition, that does not exist today.
