What's the matter with Donald Trump.

To be fair, in February. Literally 99% of the country was not a hot spot and could have been considered okay to not follow guidelines.

It is also true the guidelines for mask wearing didn't come out until April. Both are the reason using Pelosi's February visit to Chinatown to say she was sending a message to the American public that wearing a mask or following any of the guidelines that hadn't even been established is invalid.

For an issue like this I think it is important to look at the complete body of work for Trump and Pelosi, what each have been saying from the beginning until know. Trump is still saying masks are not as important as his own experts are saying. Pelosi has clearly been saying consistently to follow the guidelines.

If Pelosi made the same trip and did the same things as the February trip tomorrow I would say also chastise her for doing so.

Yeah BC, it’s a really tough situation. For me it wasn’t so much the the mask wearing that concerned me, but that two extremely powerful people in our government were essentially saying late February “don’t panic”. Fast forward to today, and now one of two of those people is being called a murderer, and the other one is claiming negligence.

I don’t know much about this recent salon trip she took a week or so ago, but I saw she wasn’t wearing a mask. I’m not sure in San Francisco if salons are open yet or not either.

I think all of this is really bad for our country. Everyone wants to blame one person for all the loss of life. But I feel, had our government been working together from the start, that it might have saved the maximum amount of lives.

I agree that Pelosi going to the salon was bad judgment. She should have known no salon services were allowed indoors and not taken the word of the owner.

^Yep. If anyone is to blame for literally causing spread. It's the WHO and the CDC. Which again, I think I said on the first few pages of the covid thread. Something to the effect of history judging those organizations harshly for literally lying to the public.

As for Pelosi, we don't know what happened. Either way Pelosi is an adult and should have the small level of self control and confidence to not get her hair done and live with bad hair. Such a ridiculous case of bad judgement, however small it may be. My 6 year old has better sense.

Recall that at that time China would not release any of their findings so they couldn't do much until the virus spread into Europe.

Per Woodward's book, I have read it and am almost through it a second time listening to audio version, he was also warned by one of his advisors who had spent several years in China and had sources there. He was told to consider the virus to be similar, as dangerous as the Spanish Flu of 1918.

Early on the daily COVID-19 updates were strictly from the health experts. Trump didn't want the truth out so he put Pence in charge. He still wasn't satisfied so he took over the updates and started lying about what was going and the Corona virus update became a few sentences and then it was all about how great a job he was doing, how it was under control and would soon be gone. The rest became a mini campaign speech.

I hope that's a sarcastic comment because of 2 things:

1. The virus was already here, it has not caused country wide infection yet because it needs time to spread.

So the fact that it wasn't a threat then did not mean it won't become one.

2. Trump showed in the recording that he knew this virus will cause wide spread infection and that it is much deadlier than a regular flu virus. In fact it has no known cure.

His unwillingless to educate the public about the deadly potential of this virus directly caused 10s of thousands more death than is necessary.

While the virus was always going to kill people, it would have killed much less people if the public were notified by the president of its actual potential to kill early on.

But, like he said, he wanted to "play it down".

So a big percentage of those dead is on him, not on anyone else.

So why would Woodward's recording be moot??
