When he was campaigning he was "threatening" China with 100,200,300% tariffs and now it's 10% for China and 50% for Canada ??

He also said he was going to regulate bit coin and I was thinking that goes together with going after the cartels but then he ends up promoting it.

China has somewhat started curbing their shipments of precursor chemicals for fentynal, supplying to medical/research companies. I would venture that it's bullshit and it won't actually make a difference. Sent from Embassy network using Tapatalk

Yes, that was unfortunate, I think we were more focused on drugs, guns and illegal immigrants coming over the US border into Canada and should have been helping you guys out more for what was going the other way.
Unless we are being misinformed though, what was going the other way was less than 1% of your problem and I think the way the border works is that most of the responsibility is for what is coming into each country. But for sure it's better to work together.

I don't know where the 48 hrs. comes from but even after agreeing to toughen up on the border (which, yes, we should have been doing before for our own sakes) and "I think" buying some helicopters from you guys to do so, Donald Trump said it doesn't matter and doubled down on the tariffs afaik sitting here in Canada.
I'd like do get your take on BitCoin while we are at it.

Now there's no financial benefit and these people have stopped coming. The chinese vendors imports to their countries directly because the tariff there are low. Thousands of businesses are affected. Many of them closed. What are the financial effects? You go to the wholesale district of downtown Los Angeles, and the streets that were once jammed packed with customers from all over the south american countries have all but disappeared.

Check the posted dates of these official announcements. https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-shee...ico-and-china/ https://www.canada.ca/en/department-...s-tariffs.html Bitcoin... I'm not 100% sold on it (privately issued), but I am 100% sure that a Centralized Official type is dangerous as it would allow governments to "manage" all purchases and stop what they don't want you to have. Kind of like a pinpoint version of what Trudeau did by confiscating the accounts of the truckers during their protest, except it would also give the government a detailed receipt of all purchases and the ability to enact fines for that and/or block further purchases. As for the missing crowds in LA, most of them are leaving, hiding, etc because they're illegal aliens. People from Mexico/Canada who cross the border to do some shopping do so legally. Therefore the crackdown doesn't affect them, it actually is a great example of just how many illegals you have/had and to be very clear people from the "surrounding countries" other than the two I mentioned weren't coming to the US for shopping as you implied. No one crosses through the various other countries to come to the US "to shop" so a Panamanian isn't driving (highway 1) 3,000 km for legal entry they would fly and that's a Miami entry port with a visa and neither they or anyone else is going to pay for Chinese crap in the USA that they can purchase in their home countries for less. Yep, I don't get what you mean by showing those articles?? Were we supposed to know that Donald Trump was joking about the Tariffs and not come out with our own? Is he still joking about it? Anyway, I was kinda hoping that the tariffs would come into play when he originally said so we can get that over with. Take steel for instance, I think we specialize more in pipe and rolled and you guys do more I beams and structural steel so we both are more efficient at what we do and we trade with each other for what we need. If we didn't trade and each of us converted our plants to produce what we need then we would save on shipping cost and even the environmental footprint for transporting it.

I'm all for the government efficiency and accountability thing, and Lord knows we have a problem with that too, but what's up with the $500 billion for AI ?? Where does that go, who is going to be accountable and what are you expecting to get for it ?? What does $500 billion worth of AI look like?
I'm hearing from Americans on another forum that $3 million Chinese AI is really impressive so makes you wonder what the $500 billion one is going to be. I hope that doesn't put you $500 billion more in debt to China.
