:thud:

One word, Bush :) Harvard and Yale can't get much more Ivy than that..unless you're a gardener.

True, true. I had a friend in high school whose parents went to Yale, so it didn't matter what his grades were, he was going to get into Yale. But that is a very small minority.

But it's not like Bush fooled anyone. When people were asked back in 2000 why they were voting for him, the most common answers I heard were things like "he is a regular guy" or "he looks like someone I could have a beer with". Nobody at all confused him with being an educated elite type.

So with that you just said that the average person will pick someone like them, not elite :dunno: So what were ya talking about in post 10?

My point was that it makes no sense. Apparently people don't think it takes much intelligence to be the president. :dunno:

Oh, OK seemed like you disagreed with your own comments.

Intelligence does not always come from education. I know plenty of dysfunctional, irrational, people who make stupid decisions with a university degree. I also know brilliant people with very little formal education.

turning out to be?

3 weeks ago he told a booster to stand up and be recognized... .problem was that the guy was in a wheelchair!

True, but we are talking about the most important job in the world. The person we choose can be both brilliant and have an excellent education. Why do we have to settle for one or the other?

I thought we were talking about the figure head of President?

The president is by far the most powerful individual in the government, and in the world. Just because its been 45 years since a president has chosen to use his power to change things does not mean that they don't have the power. They just need to have the balls too, and apparently presidents #36-43 didn't have any. Or perhaps they saw what happened to #35. :dunno: It still doesn't make the job any less important.
