So what has Obama accomplished so far? Love him or hate him he hasn't
been sitting around. His legacy is already more than just being the first black president.

Some of those accomplishments were back-doored. Bush began the Auto bail out, signed agreement to withdrawl troops by certain time period, hunted Osama Bin Laden, etc. Almost any elected President would could have stepped in and got credit for those items.

Also, I believe Obama is hovering somewhere around 38% of promises kept from his 08 run.

PolitiFact | Has President Obama kept his campaign promises?

Lastly, per Yale University sociologist Jeffrey Alexander,

"Had Obama lost the election, he would likely have been remembered in history as the first black president, and maybe little else," Alexander said.

Lastly, lastly; The accomplishment list you posted is from a left of center Democratic point of view publication. Why for example would #25. Protected Two Liberal Seats on the U.S. Supreme Court: be an accomplishment in my opinion?

Left or right everyone has an opinion but to say he has accomplished nothing more than being the first Black president IMO is disingenuous at best. The fact is Obama was in office when those those items were accomplished not any elected president and he didn't accomplish much of it on his own.

Finally it doesn't matter what I "think" apparently the American people have decided to give him another try and that's the way it is. "Go figure". :dunno:

One comment I caught, (can't remember who the talking head was), pointed out that Romney was always a 'numbers guy' and not very good at portraying his 'story' in a realistic manner. And conversely, Obama was not considered a 'numbers guy', and was more into the vague big picture along with 'his story(s)'. But, the Obama reelection machine worked the 'numbers' to a fare thee well and nailed down the specific voting areas and precincts they had to, to get those votes where needed. Mittoh farmed out much of that to the RNC and its old white guys minions, and finally started telling his 'stories'.

I thought that assessment was telling, and appeared to be a significant part of Obama's reelection.

PS: for the younger gang, having lived through Presidents since Harry S. Truman, whomever is the elected Prez seems not to be the 'end of the US', or life as one knows it, imo. The elected 'geniuses' of both the house and Senate and all the unelected bureaucrats and regulators, still remain the spenders and 'mis-guiders' of this country, imo.

Years ago I was in a taxi in Monterrey Mexico with a colleague... she was excited that Mexico had just voted out PRI and she asked the driver- excitedly, "so, now that PRI is out are you happy?"

He looked up in the mirror, paused, and said "Señora, PRI has been fcuking mexico for 50 years, it is now someone else's turn to fcuk mexico'

So.

Your right Quick. He has managed to
bring the last Republic on earth to
the door of Socialism. Congrats!

TerminatorX5 11-13-2012 03:20 PM

we are all being scared by a boogey man of the socialism - but how many on this board have lived in a socialist environment to actually testify to how bad, or how good it actually is?
