Deep Scratch Repairers

Anyone know of a good scratch repairer in Sydney?

Thanks to an independant BMW mechanic, I now have a deep scratch (can feel it with the fingernail) about 4 inches long on my front fender. obviously, they say they didnt do it, even though I have before photos when i dropped the car off to them and upon pickup to prove it happened in their possession.

Anyway, I just want it repaired and I dont want the trouble of getting the panel resprayed.

Please dont mention the company "what scratch", they are hopeless. They came and said it was too deep to fix without even examining it.

I actually have fixed a much deeper scratch than this one previously (I just dont have the time or patience to fix this one).

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks for your reply... I am at Cronulla, so this is just down the road from me.

I will give them a call and see what can be done.

Thanks once again for the reply,
Rob

Well that worked out! haha

Another local on the board!

Andy has done all the repairs on our BMW's as well as some resto work on my camaro and another car.

He is familiar with these things as he does all the work for Sylvania BM!

I know your pain about not wanting to re-paint.. I feared going this route but Andy has successfully matched Kalahari Beige on more than one occasion for me!

Hopefully you won't need it though!

Good luck

Kurt.

Cant thank you enough.. Now, I feel very happy (still, though, p#ssed off at this so called "independant bmw specialist" that scratched it and even though I have photos before and after, which I always take photos before the car goes in for service, they deny they did it)....

It is always good to get a recommendation, and yes, local as well.

I knew there would be these locals around that could do the job, but it is sometimes hard to find them without word of mouth.

Even if he does really want to respray the panel, I am sure he will do a proper job and not just a normal smash repairer.

I'll report back with what happens.

Thanks & Regards,
Rob

No worries Rob!

You may see mine down there.. its gotta go in! I'm not happy about needing more repairs on it!!

Word of mouth is all I go on, I generally will not go somewhere without one!

Can you PM his details? I need to fix my black bumper.

I accidentally close the garage door without realising I didn't back the car close enough a few months ago. As a result, the door jammed into the front bumper and left about 5cm suff marks on the unpainted part of the bumper.

Given the plastic trim is bare and unpainted, obviously you can't just fill it and repair with normal car paint. Probably need to sand smooth and respray with a textured paint to reproduce the original plastic finish.

I hope you do. I'm keen to see the results.

Make sure you take a before and after photos from the same angle for comparison.

Cheers

Reporting Back

Hi All,

Well, I got in touch with Andy and it needed a panel repaint, plus blending in on the door and surrounds (being black metallic). I thought it was going to cost a lot as I talked to the insurance company and they came up with $2800. Well, I was astounded when Andy told me the price $850+gst and that included some parts (trim) as the plastic was brittle (suffice to say, i didnt go through insurance).

I got it done last week. He said two days, which I thought would be a week since he had to remove all the parts around the fender (headlight and trim and side mirror).. Thats right, he doesnt just mask them, he does the job properly and removes everything "out of the way".

He also found some small deepish scrathes on the door that the dealer at one stage "filled" so he fixed them as well included.

I cant give this guy praise enough. The job is amazing.

I couldnt get the exact same conditions, but the first shows the sctach and the other two are after the job

Regards,
Rob
