What's Happened to www.X5Drivers.co.uk ???

I've been an active member of the UK X5 forum, x5drivers.co.uk for a while now and found it to be an excellent source of infomation / advice but also friendships too.

However I note for the couple of weeks the website has dissappeared off the face of the planet completely, to the point that no reference of the site can be found anymore.

Does anyone know what's happened to this site???

Thanks for the prompt response, so sad to see the website has fallen because of error in letting the domain name elapse. Even more sad to see there are people out there deliberately looking to cash in on this.

Lets hope BMW do now clamp down on the potential copyright infringement and take action on this so that forum user TheGodfather does not profit from others misfortune.

The X5D forum was the most welcoming, helpful and social I have ever joined and it's such a shame to see TheGodfather has caused all this upset for a quick buck.

Looking forward to finding out the new forum name so we can carry on where we left off...

I have been a member of both sites (Xoutpost & X5Drivers) and have gained a LOT of good info from both, and have contributed likewise (admittedly not on here yet since this is my first post!!!!)

The major plus point of X5Drivers.co.uk was its bias towards the UK market & Issues. Please note that is not a dig but just a quirk of the OEM (& government!) deciding that the UK needed a different spec vehicle to everyone else!!!

There are many items and issues that exist across the board so any info is good info, just as there are some things from the US side that don't apply to UK, and also some from the UK side that don't apply to the US.
But hey thats what makes it interesting..

Ref the loss of the UK site, yes it is sad its happened, but at the end of the day - It Happened. It was a good source of knowledge and banter, and at the end of the day so is this site. If the opportunity of a UK sub forum is taken then it is sure to benefit the board as a whole by having a larger database of knowledge and advice. Equally it would be good if some of the info from the UK site could be retrieved and merged in here possibly??

Fair enough someone saw an opportunity and took it - end of.
I & many may not agree but it has gone too far and should be put to rest. Unfortunately these things happen, and there are only a few that know the full story.
Yes it's a loss, but part of life is to move on and adapt, and lets face it petty bickering is never the way to do it. "Stiff upper lip" and all that eh?
(by the way I do not want to be dragged into the mallay on this so please respect my view on this)

The main thing that has really upset me is just at the time my gearbox fails and i need to pick someone's brain the first point of call disappears....
Bleeding typical...

Right, off to hammer the search button.

I agree Steamyrotter. Stuff happens but sad to see the site interrupted.

We need to be sensitive to what's happened to our brethren at the other site. At the same time, I don't think godfather had malicious thoughts when obtaining the domain.

I actually think its better that a X5 enthusiast got the domain name instead of someone who doesn't appreciate/value what it represents.

It just happened and the appropriate parties seem to be resolving the issue currently. So, let's just give them space/time and see how it plays out.

Peace out!

A UK subforum has been created to help the refugees from x5drivers.co.uk while things with that situation work themselves out. In the mean time, welcome!

offer of contribution for new site for u.k

Dear moderators for the old x5 drivers site,

I have been a member of the uk site for a while and found the information very reliable and valuable. My x5 being based in Pakistan and being U.K spec, in all honesty I saved quite a substantial amount with repairs/up grades with the help of X5drivers members. Therefore, I think it only fair that i contribute to the new site, what ever the name maybe. So, please let me know if this contribution is required and I will oblige.

I have also been a member here, but not very actively, for a while. I thank all those here who have welcomed us UK x5 ers. However, the need for a UK site is not a matter of UK v USA but because on the UK site there was a lot of information and details of UK suppliers of parts/ up grades and also the fact that most UK x5 ers have deisels and there was a lot more info on them then there is here. Also, a lot of companies/ suppliers of parts had given the forum members discounts which they wouldn't do to a company based elsewhere. An example of this is that I was about to confirm an order for a Blufin remap and would have got 10% discount. Unlikely now.

Regards,

Shaz

Is this the place to post messages for the UK branch( God I hate the sound of that), but needs must and thankyou.
If so how do we notify the original members, Sanj, X555 etc, Perhaps AW8 will have some email addresses to let them know.
Regards,
Lez
