I was hoping for a detailed diy in case I ever need to do this
I realise how much hassle that would be to get all the photos and info on here so I guess I will need to call you to come fix my trans if it fails .

Well your a better man than me, I have done a full restore on 1974 FJ40 and thought that was nightmare but pulling apart BMW gearbox!!!

I think most people would just take it to a BMW dealer but then again they would probably send it out anyway. It seems a exchange society these days rather than repair it.

Very interesting thread, I have enjoyed reading it.
