Towing capacity and tow ball load

Hi seeking some advice.

The X5 seems to be rated to 2700kg towing capability but only 120kg tow ball load in all the documentation I have found to date. This tow ball load is too low for my needs....

I too am looking at E70. My investigations to date are that post 2009 models (and maybe late 2009) have encrypted ECU - ie 2009 and earlier can be remapped via the OBDC port. Post 2009 a tad harder....
