My E53 has the same symptoms (resetting nav -> now it lists all satellite coordinates as being '0' even though it says it can 'see' all 8...).

Are you tapping the stop/start button or holding it? I think if you hold it you'll turn everything off...

A tap = turning the key from position II to I.
A hold = going from position II to 0.
