It's been sorted out by the dealer. Took it in, they checked it to find out exactly what the problem was, confirmed that it was the springs and ordered new ones from where ever, took 2...

A friend who has a 3.0 petrol has the same inconspicuous looking dipstick as the one in the pic. I can't imagine that a US/Canadian model would be any different than the ones in South Africa.
