Battery and Electrical Problems

I have a 2002 3.0i which has had a recurring problem.

My wife was driving the car and everything died, SATNAV, lights, indicators, PAS and then the engine cut out. BMW replaced the alternator....

I had exactly the same happen to me - ended up...

I had exactly the same happen to me - ended up with a replaced idle control valve and that seems to have fixed it.

Driving the X yesterday and all of a sudden the DSC light, ABS light and brake pad light all come on and the car goes into "Engine Failsafe Mode" and limps all the way to Nine Elms BMW Battersea.
