Mine creaks as the temp rises as well. Nothing is worn out and everything checks out fine. Sometimes it almost sounds broken, then next day all is good.

I have done injectors, radiator etc. on my old 88 7 series (big six). Seems straight forward but I have experienced the unforseen in the past! Brakes and suspension are no problem on these though.

If it is accompanied by a bit of a rattling type sound it could be timing chain related. Cam sensors start to fail and on start up the timing is messed up so you get the loud intermittent knocking...
