Generally no smoke or smell. We did have smoke after replacing the plugs, but it burnt off...

Well, where do people stand on changing other fluids? Transfer case & final drive for example?

I did the transfer case shortly after replacing the actuator, and final drive is next up.

We ended up drilling a hole in a corner of the metal cover, and then we could get a screwdriver under that corner and pop the cover off.
