Shouldn't be the case... Navcoder will tell you if it's necessary. If you still have the MK4 nav computer (DVD icon on the drive,) then it's harder to brick the unit by updating the software.

That feature (IIRC, BMW calls it the split screen OBC functions) was a function of the older software which ran on the MKI, MKII, and early releases of the MKIII software. The MK4 eschews the split...

Have you attempted to unplug the video module and plug in the video module connectors to the MK2? That will help sort out a wiring issue vs. a nav computer issue...
