Update: I ordered 2 o2 spacers with mini catylst from Aliexpress and the check engine light went out on its own. I finally passed emission.

ugh. I was not looking forward to remove the a pillar cover and inspect. I suppose I have to do it at one point. Anytime I have rain, I park the x5 certain to angle water towards to rear drains....

I did more research. The transmission EGS is part of valve body that can be removed and then transferred into new transmission valve body. I should be able to do it no issue.
