Mine are looking more sun baked than factory matte now too. Not sure how they come off, but they could use a re-spray for sure.

Regarding the racks, they come off pretty easily. I cleaned mine...

The culprit

I dropped the center trim piece from the headliner today to get to the motor and switch so I could troubleshoot.

Thanks RRPhil. It does seem like they just eased the ribs back a bit, but other than that it’s the same bellhousing….that should be an easy job for a competent machine shop. Or an incompetent amateur...
