I recently pulled my 180k mile evaporator and heater core. They weren’t in terrible condition. You’ll mostly want to clean, take care of any steering column issues if you have them, take care of any...

Where is the dried coolant showing up? Could just be the cap.

The quoted price is highway robbery if it’s just the one part. Reservoir is under $100 and the replacement shouldn’t be more than a...

As part of this project I am replacing a lot of the cooling system hoses that I have reasonable suspicion of being over 10 years old. Unfortunately, it appears PN 6421838353 (HOSE F ENGINE INLET AND...

AC Overhaul

Good questions asked so far. In hindsight I probably should have done some more thorough troubleshooting on this forum before committing, making 100% sure I needed to break into the AC system. That...

AC Overhaul

I tried one recharge at my buddy’s place; the delta was pretty small. Same issue. I recognize the low side pressure read was kind of low based on what I found on other threads around here; might have...

I bought Sachs a few years ago for my 3.0 w/ sport package and the lower bushings on the shocks are toast already. Shocks were torqued on the ground so I’m not sure what happened to them. Probably...

I hate coming across threads with no conclusion when I am searching for advice, so I’m here to put a long overdue pin in this.

Well, I’m perplexed. Replaced the heater pipe and that took care of the last of the leaks. Then I reassembled the engine to get it to a running state.

First start. Idling a little lumpy. I let...

I have the Ames 2.7”, $90 at HF. Had to take a pic of the screen with my phone.

The engine last ran on the 23rd or 24th of December, so not even a month yet.

It's Dead, Jim ('01 3.0i)

Yeah maybe the oil is covering up a problem. But, again, this is my first go at troubleshooting this kind of thing.

Just cleaning the valve seat surface as much as I was able to seemed to take...

It's Dead, Jim ('01 3.0i)

I retried a compression test on 2 and 4. Still sub-30 psi.

It's Dead, Jim ('01 3.0i)

I do have an air compressor but no leak down kit. It’s easy enough to retry the compression test with a squirt of oil in 2 and 4 that I’ll do that first.

Edit: I did try multiple runs on cylinders...

It's Dead, Jim ('01 3.0i)

Well the leak is at the heater pipe. The intake had a bit of dripping oil in the runners but the CCV was replaced not too long ago. I scoped a couple cylinders and they were normal looking, a bit...

It's Dead, Jim ('01 3.0i)

Update: The oil is dark but no sign of coolant in it. Ran the engine for several seconds. It runs without a knock and sounds smooth after the VANOS settles in (gotta fix that). I’m thinking I’ll have...
