For our BMWs you would be lucky to get 5 yrs out a battery now a days. Especially if you live in the north where it goes down to -45c

Dont wait too long to replace the ccv , you dont want to hydro lock your engine by a frozen ccv and all your engine oil gets sucked up onto the top of the pistons. Bending connecting rods.

I friend of mine put poly bushings in and they are squeaking as hell. Not a fan. I would go with genuine BMW bushing ,Lemforder.

Have you checked the connectors from behind the radio to see if they are burnt at all? Could be a possible loose connection causing an arc and heating up.

As long as you heated up the metal hot enough so you dont get a cold solder it should last for a long time.

1 thing I would add is to replace the ccv and update to the winter set up as they are known to freeze up, mine did, and I had a ton of oil come out the back of the exhaust. They should be replaced...

With the engine running, what is the voltage at? You can check with a meter ,without going through INPA.

The ccv would cause this issue. Do you change the ccv every 2 yrs? Do you live in a cold climate? You can leave the fuel hooked up, I did and no issues.

take the 6th spark plug out, crank the engine with no spark plugs. And let the oil fly out of the cylinders ,the oil will go everywhere ,but you need the oil out of there. Your engine can hydro lock...

I can see not changing the oil pan gasket, that would be a pain to do on these X5's.

It's a good idea to replace the tranny fluid, if it hasn't been done. It's not lifetime with that many miles on it. Is your oil housing gasket leaking? Have you replace the ccv on it?

Mine were great been using them for about 3 yrs now. They work between -40c to +30c. Just a FYI
