The guy had the car for 4 years and it had a 7 yr 100K warranty through BMW that expired in 2009 so everything is documented.

It could be as much as $7000. I first thought the $2400 would extend maintenance and the warranty an extra 2 yrs which seemed very reasonable. Not the case two different things.
