I am using Toyo Proxes tires in my 19" rims. It has been about 5 months and driving under hot tropical conditions, I ahve not encounteres any noisy problems or fast treadwear. Tire size is 255/50/r19 on all 4 tires. Would like to go staggered but road conditions in the Philippines are not suitable especially if I use my X5 as a daily car. I drive an 02 X5 3.0d euro.

any ideas why my rears would only wear in the middle. I have 4.8is.

Curtis,
Keep us updated on what you decide. I'm also in S FL and am in the market for new tires on a 4.8is. After doing quite a bit of research, I have decided on the Yoko ADVAN ST's. I plan on having them installed next week but could be swayed if better information surfaces.
Thanks!!

  • These things grip the road like no other! On and off ramps were amazing last night!
  • They look so beast! The 87's look even wider from the rear with the Toyo Proxes!
The guy at the tire shop suggested having them "flipped on the rim" every 10,000 miles. (They take the tire off of the rim, and turn it around so that what was on the inside is now on the outside, to even out the uneven wear caused by the negative camber.) Sounds like a good idea to me. Does anyone else have this done?

Michelle,
What was the deciding factor that made you to go with the Toyo's? What other tires did you consider?
Thanks!!

They were suggested to me by several members who live in my area and experience the same winter weather conditions.

I didn't look at any other brands.

I have the Toyo's, 315's all the way around, I can rotate them front to back. Additionally, I have neutralized the rear camber. I have not seen any decrease in handling and I take off ramps at 60 - 70 mph.

No noise issues with about 5k miles......

 Thanks Michele, I was keeping an open ear for info for new tires for the 4.6...I have Toyos on my M-3 and they have done very well...Thanks again and Happy New Year to all! ;)

Ridiculous cloverleaf off-ramp speeds!

I have toyo's also, staggered, with factory camber. No noise issues and really grip fair weather California roads. Just for shiits and giggles (and a thrill :yikes: ) I also take cloverleaf off-ramps at ridiculous speeds! :woot: (w/ the DSC function minimized because when its fully engaged it cramps my style) :driver:
