Jlevi SW | E53 X5 LED Tails
 

We have the opportunity to bring in LED tail lights for E53 X5. These will be similar to the LED tails we offer for the E46 Coupe and Sedans with built in resistors and plug and play installation. Here is a picture, we would like to get an interested list going and start preorders.

We are ready to bring in samples and are gauging interest at the moment. Feel free to put your name down on the list, once we have the samples we will post some installed pictures with full product information.

Questions:

1. Do the turn signals light in amber?

2. Is there any egg-yolk effect when they're off? Mine have silver coated "stealth" bulbs currently.

3. This is a complete replacement of the part pictured below, not just a DIY LED kit, correct?

4. Is there a difference depending on MY or production date? Mine is an early '04.

Finally an LED light for the E53.....

Nick, you saw the list started in the group buy forum, so you obviously have a lot of prospective buyers. The list will need to be freshened to weed out the members on the list who no longer have their X5's (like me), or who are no longer participating on this board. Start a 2nd list. Whoever was on the first list, but not on the new list, send them a PM to see if they're still interested.

My recommendation would be to get a North Cal member to go look at the lights, maybe get them installed, and give a first hand review. Wuzin and/or Andaya probably wouldn't mind checking it out for the rest of the group. They're usually doing leading edge stuff with their X5's. Haven't seen either of them lately though...

Are these lights exclusive to Umnitza or will there be a flood of them on eBay? It wouldn't be good if these lights showed up on eBay 3 months down the road, priced substantially less than for what they are going to be sold for here. Price these LED lights very carefully.

Speaking as the lead distributor on this, I cannot and will not be able to guarantee that back room deals won't be achieved by various vendors out there - hence the flood to eBay.

All I can assure you is that we will guarantee these lights.

Take some time to look over what happened in the E46 LED tail market, a flood of cheap, non-US products flooded the market, they created a huge glut in the market place and were cheap.

Then the reports starting coming in:
1) LCD errors
2) Inability to function with certain years or months of production
3) Inconsistent operation

All along the LED tails we sold never had these issues, but were all priced $75 more, because we actually took them apart and reworked the internals to work with all cars.

So have no fear, even if something does flood the market, there is not going to be a guaranty for at least a year and by that time, we'll hopefully have enough bargaining power to further lower the prices.
