The next gen X5 will be much lighter.
The V8 engine in X5 M is very down tuned. It is capable of lot more...we will see the engine in the new M5.

21psi of boost is down tuned?

Coming from a guy who owns a Chrysler product as well? I'm a lover of all supercars, each has it's own pluses and minuses.

haha yeah well...okay but a jeep anything has nothing on a viper.
i hope the jeep is quick, then bmw will make the X5M even faster.
knowing srt they wont ever say how fast it really is and it will be slower than everyone believes...

:) I still think those SRT8 Jeeps look pretty sick though, and I agree...the X5///M still has more room left for HP, so it'll be a nice war to watch.

With technology, forced induction, etc and even little 4 bangers putting down 1000HP, the old saying "no replacement for displacement" relates more to exhaust note than HP nowadays.

Being that I am on both sides here (have a 2010 Grand Cherokee that will be the X's replacement when she takes a dirt nap), the boys on the Jeep website are very excited about the new SRT8. First reports are saying the new 6.4 liter Hemi will only be putting out 470hp, but says it has the potential of mid-500's. This new (or updated) engine will be what they will use in the SRT8 Challengers and Chargers.

Someone mentioned something about a hitch - believe it or not the current GC SRT8 has a hitch available that fits in between or under the exhaust (from what I remember), but the tow rating is like only 3K lbs - my 5.7L GC can tow up to 7400lbs.

The 2011 GC is much more refined and a lot closer to the offerings of luxury SUVs. However Chrysler/ Fiat is still putting a dated 5A tranny in it that kills the gas mileage - as soon as the 8A goes in, I might be trading.

Those S/C JGCSRT8's are no joke. Quite a few jaw-dropping videos of them in action on the 'tube.

Supercharging that big of an engine puts it into a while different league vs the 4.4, and in the end it would still be far cheaper (and apparently more reliable) than the X5///M.
