oh yea, it cost about $17 for me to ship via FedEx ground to Canada...obviously could be done cheaper through the USPS or such and cheaper to CUS
|
170 total seems very fair price to me.
Let me know how it goes with your installation (and please share your DYI pics if possible). If it's fairly straight forward, I will try to do same thing. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Will do

Today started the wiring of the lighting system...I won't say it is hard but I also won't say this is going easy.
Because I am anal retentive and I do not want to give BMW any reason to void any warranties...I am doing everything 100% perfect. In the 2 hours I took this AM (mostly spent looking at alternatives to removing the DME/relay box). My workaround was to extend the wiring and route the two wires (yellow/red and yellow/black) to the passenger side fuse/power terminal. These two wires are 12v supply to the right and left headlights. I tested the wires and with fuses in place they are HOT 12V....so, I figured less time to tape off the two wire ends where they will attach to the lights...then have to pull the passenger foot access panel again later (or leave it out) http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps8e27f887.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psfb25a74c.jpg Once you remove the passenger footwell cover to access the power terminal/block - remove the two T25 torx screws on this air vent and then pull down the vent - this will allow easy access to the port into the DME box (under the hood)...this will be the port through the firewall http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps92857c4f.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps55dd9f59.jpg Extend the wires about 6-8 inches (I soldered and heatshrink all connections, then wrapped in electrical tape - exactly like the other portion of the OEM harness) http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps28eff8a3.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psfbc7e54f.jpg I then cut a small notch in the top ridge of the bottom portion of the DME box (just big enough to allow the fabric wrapped portion of the two wires to cross through AND SEAL the space when the cover of the DME box is reattached) http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps417c5ece.jpg DME cover reinstalled http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...pse828f003.jpg Vent to cabin reinstalled - one push/compression pin on front and two latches inside - easy to access and manipulate. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps4e82c056.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psa73ffca7.jpg Cabin airbox reinstalled http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps8fead026.jpg The two slots that should be empty for fuses per instructions and then filled http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps9314c366.jpg THEN FILLED with the supplied LED harness kit (the harness retro kit is very complete) http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psadda4f06.jpg OK, as mentioned before - the YELLOW/RED and the YELLOW/BLACK wires are the lighting connections will now be 12v HOT if you went ahead and installed the fuses - PLEASE TAPE THESE OFF....PLEASE TAPE THESE OFF - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYONE READING MY NOTES LISTED HERE - THESE ARE ONLY MEANT TO ASSIST http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps5e1b5adf.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps268a6f98.jpg |
omg- that's pretty hardcore retrofit to me.
thanks for sharing!!!!! |

Going to go do the FRM (Footwell Module) wiring in a minute...waiting on home AC folks...came home from Bermuda to no AC in the house
|
Installed the FRM wiring - fairly easy and straightforward.
I will post pic in a bit |
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

To pull the wiring through the firewall on the drivers side is relatively easy - there is a handy "port' in the main harness grommet
I used a drill bit to punch a round hole and remove just enough material to allow wires to pass but to seal around them after pulling them through. Remove the lower kick panel (3 Philips screws) then remove the plug to the light and to the speaker - then pull panel out http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps107737be.jpg remove footwell side panel - two Philips screws (remove the one securing hood release first, pull off the hood release and the 2nd screw will be accessible) http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps9bdc6574.jpg Drill - poke - however works for you the firewall grommet then pull wires http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psd594a91c.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps8c3e3a8d.jpg This is the FRM (footwell module) held on by 2 10mm plastic nuts - they are deep - so keep turning http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psa3497376.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psa66e79df.jpg Module plugs one and two - see retrofit kit for which wires go to which plug http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps7f56eddf.jpg WTF - two wires in the harness that ARE NOT in the instructions... (One is Black with green stripe and the other Black with blue stripe) (bl/gr goes to left headlight and bl/blue goes to right...again, nothing mentioned in the retrofit instructions... The other four wires on each side are correct as listed on retrofit instructions http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps18959749.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psf1c58522.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps9c3ac823.jpg |
