Changing Wheels
Can someone please help me ASAP! I'm trying to paint the brake calipers to my X3 and for some strange reason I am not able to take off the wheel. Is there some sort of ritual that is needed to take the wheels off...other then removing the bolts? It's a good thing I found this out in my garage and not on the road.
Please help!!!! |
Kick them off! (i'm not kidding)
|
You mean just kick them and they'll come off?
|
yes, make sure all bolts are off too, and proper jacking procedure is done
|
btw, what color for the calipers? pls post some pics, GL

All that has been taken care of. I tried using a malet on the tires to try and loosen the wheel but the freakin' thing looks like it's stuck kind of tight! I'll give it another shot and see what happens.
Hang tight!!! THANKS!!!!!! |
It worked!!! A couple of more wacks with the malet and the wheel came off.
THANKS A LOT!!!!!!! |
Go at the inside of the wheel and the hub with a wire brush if you can to clean some of the dust and rust off while you can, bro.
Post pics when you're all finished! JV |
Good Morning,
The calipers have been painted red! Pics are coming so please bear withe me. It took me about 2 -3 hours (starting at 12am) to paint the calipers but it really makes the X3 look sportier. I was going to buy some new calipers but said to myself...let me paint them first and see how they look. I never knew how much of a B!TCH it can be taking those tires off. Good thing I found out how to do it at home in my garage. THANKS iop9000 for the great, yet simple, advise of using some extra force on the tires. The pics are coming!!! |
If you put a little lithium grease on the hubcentric, you'll find that they will come off right awat without a mallet next time.
