IMO you shouldn't have any problem with the kids. I had a 2001 330ci and its not that bad getting into the back,( you know), they have to travel in the back seat anyway and they will have plenty of room I'm planing on doing my 3rd ED to get a 535i in 2008 if everything goes ok. Again good luck

Thanks for the encouragement! I just hope the little one will be able to buckle his own seat soon. He still does not have quite the coordination or strength to buckle-up, so I need to help. That is my only concern...me getting back there to help.

The wife will have an X3 (her choice...she likes hers and rejected a 335i) and I will have the 335i.

:thumbup: just be diligent to cool down the twin spooling before shut off. Then again you can always get yourself a timer to alleviate the wait...... Have a nice autobahn trip.

From what I have heard there isn't any cool down period like in the older turbos.

This will not be my first turbo car and as such I am anticipating that cool down period. While Vern is right that cooling down is not as necessary as it was in the old days, caution is still warranted here. My custom and practice is to let all cars cool down after running them hard just to be kind to the machinery.

Now...let's talk about the 08 X3 that we will be doing ED with in December...any chance of there being a US-bound diesel X3 at that point?

On the 335i, the electric water pump operates for a short period after shutdown to cool the turbos which eliminates the need to a timer. I had a turbo-timer on my Supra TT. I could never get used to walking away from the car with the engine still running. Most of the time I stood by until the engine shut off.

I have been giving alot of thought to trading in my X5. My warranty expires in 9 months, my commute has gone up from 6 miles per day to 100 miles per day, and I miss my manual transmission.

I'm deliberating as to buying a 335i 6MT sedan or waiting for the N54 biturbo X3 (as promised by Scott27), which hopefully retains a 6MT. What I'd really like to see is a N54 biturbo 335i sportwagon sold here in the U.S., but I probably have a better chance of seeing Jesus.

So Randy, what's on your order sheet for the 335i coupe?

I am not holding my breath for the N54 for the X3...That engine is designed to fit into the e90 and newer engine bays, not the e46. While anything is possible, I have never seen any reliable indication that BMW is going to put that engine into the X3. I would think that if they were going to use it in a truck it would already be in the new X5...

My 335i is to be silver/black, manual, sport, premium, nav, cold weather, comfort access, rear shade, PDC, USB/Ipod interface, and Sirius. The issues I am still trying to decide include: 1.) Coupe vs Sedan (I schlep 2 kids to school every morning and one still needs help buckling-up...a sedan would be easier), 2.) Titanium Silver vs Titanium Grey, and 3.) auto vs stick. The folks on the bimmerfest message board and on e90 post have done a great job convincing me that the automatic in the 335i is worth switching to. I just can't quite wrap my brain around the idea of giving-up stick...

Any thoughts?
