Goodbye to One X3
Well, I have sold my 6-speed X3. I am planning to get a new 335i coupe for european delivery in July. We still have the automatic, which will be replaced with an 08 X3 3.0 in December.
In the interim I am driving a 2007 Honda Civic Si 4-door. Reading my posts on this board reveals that I am truly a BMW fan. Perhaps to a fault... I must confess (as much as it pains me) that the navigation in my Civic is head and shoulders above the system in the X3. The ease of entering addresses, the ability to enter waypoints, to switch voices, the clarity of the instructions (it specifies street names in the verbal instructions for example), the organization of destinations...just superior. Now, the nav in the X3 has gotten me all over europe and all over California. It works fine, it is just that other systems work better. The X3 is a wonderful car which my good friend will enjoy driving for another couple of years. |
Interesting - I am willing to bet that your lap times go down along with your center of gravity :D

oooh, a new 335i - congrats in advance!
since you sold the manual X3, does this mean that my X3 will have no other X3's to try catch up to at future bmwcca driving schools? bummer! |

Just think of the joy you will get spanking my civic! |
sad to hear about getting rid of the X...
but you'll have so much more fun in a 335i. remember :worthless: |
Going to be a big change, enjoy.

My mom drives a Civic 4 door sedan (EX auto of course, she can't/won't learn stick). I have gripes about the un-driver-oriented controls. The radio buttons require me to reach, the steering wheel buttons require me to look down, and I just ignore the digital speedo because my eyes alternate between the road and the tach, and that's it. (you may or may not have this issue too). The X3, for all its slowness and occasional hiccups, is a better driver's car. However, since you have an Si, you may like the Civic more than I like ours. I sat in one of those at the autoshow and found the seats a bit better, and the red illumination is less straining on the eyes then our "retina-burning blue". Best of luck! |

The sad thing is the LA Chapter of the BMW CCA canceled its auto-x program so I will be forced to run with SCCA. However, I plan to do the Central CA BMW CCA Drivers School at Buttonwillow in April. Any takers??? Maryanne? |
