Strickly freeway has gotten me about 21 mpg.

I have about 5000 miles with my 06 X3. Overall I'm pretty happy with the fuel mileage. I wish the city was a bit higher but I'm hoping to see improvements as I put more mileage on my X3.

City driving in San Francisco: 11.5 mpg. We now have 11k miles on our 2004.

I'm at about 12mpg city driving also in San Francisco :( These hills really suck. I have about 11k miles on our 2005. Even when I do some highway driving, my combined is still about 14-15mpg. I might look into a new 3 series wagon... Better gas mileage, has the space I need, and still a BMW.

Yeah, the L.A. city driving kills my mileage. While I do have a motorcycle (Big Bear Choppers Venom ProStreet) I went ahead a bought a scooter for zipping around near where I live.

Do you use the computer and reset it often/every tank?

I wonder if your computer is the opposite of ours it ALWAYS show .9 to 1.9 mpg better than the hand held. We reset every tank and use a hand held to compute TRUE mpg!! 20 to 21.5 in mixed driving.

ab

Yes, I do reset every tank fill. Been keep a log as well with gallons added at each fill.

Just hit 20K miles on the X3...usually get about 20mpg...wife gets better mileage I'm sure as she doesn't have a lead foot like me...

When I first got mine, I went on a 2K round trip to SoCal (from Oregon) and got real world mileage right around 22-25mpgs. I just took a trip to Seattle, sat in quite a bit of Seattle traffic and actually got 24-25mpgs. I noticed that the faster I go (anything above 65) and the mpgs actually starts going backwards. My 325 actually gets better mileage in the 70+ range and will still turn in 28-30 mpgs. The X3 just has that butt that won't quit.:spank:
