I have driven an X5M that had a Dinan tune and exhaust. It was only OK for me. Too big, very little feel of the road in the steering, not as nimble, feels much heavier--I expected to be wowed but it didn't do it for me. I have done so much to my 4.6, that could be the reason.

I have driven several stock X5Ms, every new model year. I like the new body style and that there are tunes and parts out there to get to about 750HP. I have been considering getting one late this year to mid next year. Trigger will be if there are proven ways to get over 800 HP and keep it together------I won't be selling my E53 regardless.

Can't argue with your car. But I drove a 700hp version that literally barked every shift. It is a superior car in most every category. The pull is so nuts I can't imagine more power, the Sumer only michelins were struggling to keep grip. That did it for me. I can't imagine keeping an outdated car, unless it's an e39 M5, while having a newer x5 next to it. Not to strike up an argument, but I would be stunned to see your 4.6, even nitrous, keep up with an M with only $4k in go fast shit. At least I know the e53 tranny would deff grenade in comparison to the new M.

An x5 is also a SAV. It's big, extremely heavy, and the performance aspect of an M is just a toy, a way to put a smile on your face. I also hate putting 20 bags of concrete in my x5 but I do it, because in the end, that's why I have it. Wife wants kids and her to sit high. I also like the fact I don't have to bend to get kids out or in. And the power is nice.

My 4.8 will go to someone else when my wife gets enough nerve to drive with kids by herself. At that point, and e39 and F150 is all I need. If I have to drive a SUV for another 10 years, I will deff move up to x5m or a range sport, but I deff can't see myself holding on to an out dated model for ever.

What had been done to the one you drove to get it to 700HP. Was it a new one that started at 600 or older at 555?

Vehicles don't become obsolete to me. When I get done with a mod I already have plans for the next one so it is always something that keeps my enjoyment near when I drive something new off the showroom floor. I can always imagine more power and have plans for additions to my current X5. I understand you thoughts, we're just not in the same place.

I haven't compared the power to weight ratios of a 700 HP X5M and mine but with the extra gears and launch control you should be correct though I do have more than just nitrous. I would give it a whirl but I wouldn't bet on it for sure.

Me likey toys!
