Who here has replaced the Door Seal and noticed a difference
I've been hemming and hawing at this.....
Mainly due to the cost, at around $400+ for all 4 doors. I have a small tear on the lower bottom primarily on the Front R/L doors just due to age and wear, and well, if I'm going to do it, I would do all 4. Just got the X back from the body shop tonight. I'll take a look tomorrow morning, but I suspect the door trim is slightly misaligned, as I'm getting some noticable wind noise coming through the front door. In thinking of this, just reminded me of the weatherstripping I keep on putting off. So lemme hear it. Have you replaced yours and have you noticed a *difference*. The OCD in me just wants to replace them....as those 2 tiny holes on the bottom just drive me crazy every weekend when I wash the cars ;-) |
I did my front two doors when I had it in to my indy....I was charged $29 for the part on each door...is the $400 quote from a stealership?
I haven't really noticed a reduction in noise, but it looks much better :) |
It's generally about a bit over $110 or so the last time I checked.
This is with the usual OEM discounts. I can't see how it could possibly cost $29 per door.. |
I did my front two doors a while back. It did help the noise a bit. I don't remember the cost but I think I got them from Huskerparts (or maybe FCPeuro)...
|
^The $29 piece are the ones on the doors itself prob. these are the actual strips on the opening for the door that go all the way around the door opening I assume.
I haven't done mine yet but they are starting to deteriorate slowly. Also starting to get a bit of deterioration on the lower rear door seams, going to have to nip that and get it redone before I have to have the whole doors painted. |
I bit the bullet.....4 Bennys poorer.
LOL. I declined on this back in fall, and that goodness I did as I needed to replace the sunroof cassette a few weeks later, and that part was 5X as much ;-) |
Keep us updated! I'm following suit depending on the outcome... |
Not much to update....I'm sure the rubber will be less compressed.
No minor tears on the bottom just from 10+ years of getting in/out, feet running across it and abrading it. It's kinda costly for the ROI of what it is, but it is what it is....ya know. |
I noticed how bad mine were when I was doing the Dynavin install. Definitely something I will address probably around the same time I drop the headliner down to redo it.
