Here's a few photos of my Eonon, running Car Home Ultra homepage, Apple music, Torque Pro etc.

Hey Neil, Which Bluetooth adapter do you use for the Torque app, and do you always leave it plugged in?

O3X5 10-14-2016 09:04 AM

mmmmm, boost.

Did you need a module to connect to the obd or does it work by using the factory harness?

I connect using a generic bluetooth ELM327 adaptor from eBay. Torque will run via bluetooth, no cables required. I did modify mine to include an on/off switch as generally it requires to be unjacked and re-inserted to sync up to the X5's ECU's. I leave it in situ all the time.

Nice great idea. I knew the elm 327 would come in handy sometime

Ok, I have another question about the install. How is the head unit secured into the dash? I have contacted Eonon and they are telling me they don't have an installation manual available for physically installing the unit into the dash. How can that be?? LOL

Surely there has to be hardware securing the unit into the dash so it remains in place and doesn't become dislodged, right??

Yes you are correct, there are 2 metal mounting brackets supplied. It requires some trial and error to get them positioned and possible re-drilling of the bracket to ensure you are secured to some plastic framework. There are only 2 screws for the unit itself. Top left and top right. These are capped once inserted . I built up the support of the body of the unit with a piece of carpet covered timber which takes the weight and correctly positions the unit. The 2 mounting screws just provide extra anchoring, as the angle of the dashboard opening and the unit itself result in it sitting in the preferred position. I took a few photos at the time. I can search for them and upload.

Ok, gotcha. Yea, if you can find the pics of the bracket install that would be helpful to wrap my mind around the configuration. Thanks!

Red arrows = drilled holes to find plastic framework.
Yellow & green circles = Eonon front mounting screw holes.
Green stars = Carpet covered timber battens hot glued to factory framework.
Framework has been cut with butane powered hot knife. Not pretty, but necessary.
I think I also had to file some metal from the front edge of the brackets, so they sat deep enough into the enclosure and made sure the Eonon faceplate was flush with the dash.

Good luck!
