Pics look good - you have Comfort Seats - if timing chain guides have not been done, do them now before you have issues -
Best of luck being the wifes car, you might need to catch up on maintenance for the next year or so but its worth it if you stick it out |
Welcome!!

Thanks. I am fully prepared for maintenance. I have a 4 post lift and am no stranger to this gen of BMW (E38 and E39's). I plan on tackling the guides in the spring. May get someone else to do it too. We will keep the V70R for a while just in case. Might just keep it forever since I have done so much maintenance on it and values seem to be ticking up a hair.

Clean example. Good find.
Did the dealer mention any error codes? Looks like one is hiding where it's showing the range mileage. |
They didn't mention anything and said there were no issues. But it's a dealer so.... I paid what I feel is a fair price even if I need to throw a few grand at it on maintenance. I don't mind doing any suspension/bushing stuff myself as I have tons of tools. There aren't too many estoril 4.6's for sale generally and this one apparently has no scratches or dings which is a huge plus to me. I prefer a cosmetically perfect vehicle as maintenance is much easier/cheaper in many cases.

Oh snap, RVAE34 nice looking car. I think people here will love the 5wagon and what you are doing with the 7series now. You should link it here.
i've heard the 4.6 is a car that requires attention but seeing what you are capable off, i think you'll be just fine. Welcome xoutpost. I follow your build on TCL. |
I love estoril blue, don't see too many around. There are always some suprises buying sight unseen, as long as your happy with the deal. Welcome aboard and looking forward to some more pics / progress threads :)

Thanks and sure thing! This X5 was an impulse buy. I was looking for another project and stumbled upon it. My wife has been amazing putting up with all my builds so I felt it's time I gave her an upgrade. She loves the V70R but also missed the Xterra so this kind of combines the two. We had always talked about her getting an X5 next eventually.
I was building an estoril E38 but she hated the color so much on my manly vehicle that I sold it lol. But she loves estoril on a woman's vehicle... Here is the current alpine E38 ESS M7 project. One owner with 38k miles. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...xt-E38-project And here is the E39 touring I sold. Sorry they are so long. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...ouring-project Here is the 03 E39 M5 I bought and did a total refreshtoration on before selling back to the guy who sold it to me originally. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...on-the-2003-M5 |
Welcome! Estoril is the best.
What year V70R? My brother has a 98 that we did a manual swap on (and kept AWD). Those things are fun. |
