I got some unintended revenge today.

A Hyundai Elantra was driving so far up my ass that besides the Hyundai emblem on my seat I could only see the shark fin antenna on his roof. I was stuck between the left side k-rail and a line of cars, I ran over a 5 gallon water bottle (opaque kinda soft one) with the left front wheel and that shot it under the left rear wheel, that then shot straight into his windshield and BOOM [emoji95]. I haven't laughed so hard in years!!

I run construction and I get stuff like that regularly. I pull them and plug them as long as they're not too close to the side wall. I think every tire on my X has a plug in it.

Tip-Top used to make something called a "Combi" patch, it means needing to take the tire off , but a totally reliable repair as long as not close to sidewall as pointed out, but even there it is fairly reliable if it's still in the tread.

I hear you, but that is a lag bolt from 1 of the 25 newly installed black/yellow rubber speedbumps (in 1km) feom the gate to my house on the compound...[emoji35][emoji35]

Going to work.....

1. A semi side swiped a Toyota and tossed it on top of a 6' divider.

2. Dodge Charger plowed through 8-10 orange cones (they all shattered) but missed the work truck on the inside lane.

3. A tree fell across the road blocking 2 of the three lanes on a side road.

Coming Home.....

4. Then just about to the compound outside the city, there was some Middle Eastern traffic controls slowing things down.

Nice. The dash in mine is nearly perfect too. I use Heatshields on mine. Both front doors and windshield have covers. The cargo area and rear doors have nice limo tint. Black interior is so hot! Glad my A/C blows down to 42F!

My house side has a sidewalk. I can't stand to see peeps walking their dogs in the afternoon. As for poop, I pile it up at the edge of my property line. Someone picks it up or they walk on it. :wow:

The rule here for kids is 110f to 105f play in the shade, below 105f they can play in the sun.

It's already cooling off as now temps are only at 115f daily.

dust storms made it to DFW, back in the late '50s
 

I remember a few towering dust storms blow thru my neighborhood in SW Dallas, during the Texas drought of '57-60 (maybe later); my grandparent's house two houses down was our residence when the storms blew through, because they had A/C, and could close their windows, but my Dad had only a swamp cooler + attic fan, so he couldn't close all the windows in the sweltering heat.

Cousins visiting us (a family reunion, pre '60), during that era, talked about how bad it was in their towns of Monahans, Wink, Pecos, and Odessa, and I could see for myself, when my mother took me and my brothers to Midland (talk about a sparsley vegetated...no trees or grass to speak of...oiltown), for two weeks in 1960, to visit her sister, a secretary for Mobil Oil.

Not only did I get a duststorm, but a heavy thunderstorm, later, provided a lightning strike that set a huge oil tank (a couple of blocks away from my aunt's apartment) on fire, and the smoke plume towered over the city for days.

My X5 is a veteran of visiting the West Texas oilfields; previous owner #1 (I'm the third owner) was an oilman, and he used the X5 to visit the fields. Mostly flat lands traveled, and at highway speeds to get there, is probably why my X5 still is mechanically in good shape (at 211k miles, but the Aux fan just died the other day), though previous owner #2 did a lot of work preparing the X to hand over to me, in trade for my '66 Chevelle drag-car.

Perhaps we need another duststorm to blow thru today, to impart the current population with the knowledge of what our ancestors went through, on a regular basis, just a few generations ago. Not to mention the Dust Bowl era of the 1930's.

It's not a bad idea, though you could make the cooling worse if you didn't use the right water in the system.

I was going to buy a similar mister for my home A/C, but I read of many problems when/if the water wasn't filtered, and de-calcified or rid of mineral salts, first. Over time, the unfiltered water would harden over the fins, and reduce cooling efficiency.

I nearly bought one, after two days of 111F last year, and I've got it in my mind as we're getting a stretch of 102-109F temps this week, but I'll probably not , as we have problems with water supply and power going off intermittently, all summer (and spring, fall, and winter).

But, in the case of living/driving in desert conditions, I probably would get onne for car and home use.

Oh, nitrous oxide will cool your intake charge even better, but I'm not so sure that my wif would let me use that (again), at least on my X5.

I would love to run nitrous but it's not really easy to get over here, it's easier than getting a ham sandwich but still.... [emoji1787] [emoji1787]

I wouldn't be too concerned about mineralization considering how radiators are in the tropics or the PNW with rain having tons of contaminates also.

So have you ever ALMOST had "one of those days?"

I headed into the city at 0430 with the temperature at 101 already and farther down the highway at 120 with cars spaced 2 or 3 car lengths apart (4 lanes) I had 3 cars become 0.5 cars. I locked up the brakes and made it down to 20 in 100 feet it seemed like and that was with what felt like NO ABS at the time... I made it through that shit show and 10km later I got stopped at a checkpoint and as the cop is looking in my open window my stereo just happens to be playing GODSMACK's "Bad Religion" [emoji2357]then I get home and my brakes squeal like a pig because I apparently glazed the shit out of them.[emoji90]Then 1 of the guys shot his own tire out by accidently rolling his car forward on a gravel lot that had an unfired 9mm round on the ground and getting a primer strike. This was all before 11am.

I am planning on day drinking professionally now....

Not a road pic/story.

Just finished packing the house yesterday, moved today from 0700-1100. I found out exactly how old I am... Wore a t-shirt, ranger panties and flip-flops. I then got close to heat exhaustion, (112f outside) got one of those cramps in my foot that felt like all my toes were crossed and fell down in pain, quickly realized that a cramped foot isn't as painful as the sunny asphalt (performed levitation in 0.4 seconds) made it inside to sit and found out that my wife had determined that I was too grungy to use furniture. I then proceeded to prove that the floor was much cooler and nicer to relax upon, although the height of standing is a definite negative. [emoji205][emoji533][emoji458]

PS. I washed the damn car yesterday...[emoji849]
