Guessing mine needs some work. I hooked my Bluetooth dongle to read temps. For driving around town, it went anywhere between 90C and 96C. Outside temp was as high as 40C. It would reach 96C at stops and lights. It would take a good distance to bring it back to 90C. With a coolant refresh coming up soon, a Stewart high flow pump is looking like a good upgrade.

Those are pretty good for a 3.0i - nothing to worry about there.
If you are comparing those temps to what I said about rarely seeing 93Deg.C - then note that my X5 is a diesel (3.0d) and runs much cooler - the thermostat is an 88Deg.C unit and on cold mornings it struggles to make even that.

Also normal and nothing to worry about. A lot of folk slam the temp gauge for it's damped readings but remember that all engines can vary in operating temp a bit and most drivers barely even look at a temp gauge (present company excepted!!!). You DO know that most us on Xoutpost aren't really normal, right...?
